Cool! You really mixed it up here with the category order. I think that's great for audience interest  .

I'm pretty sure vic switches videos around if they don't seem to be in the right category. Reda's Hellsing Boondocks video wasn't submitted into the trailer category last year but that's where it ended up.

True. However, I think that particular video was in undecided if my memory serves me right.

Wow, there's only 4 videos in the trailer category. I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing for me >.<

You really think that makes a significant diff? Videos that have gone early on have won their category before.

yeah but that works better if the videos after it aren't terribly impressionable :D

on the flipside, your amv will be watched by the people who can't or won't stay for the whole duration of the amv contest...

I've noticed a pattern within categories, especially comedy. The playlist tends to place the videos which the judges think will get the most response both first and last in each category. I see the logic in it as far as keeping the audience engaged but I personally think every category but comedy (since it's usually last in the order) and whatever the first category in line is should have a randomized order. The very first video should start the contest with a bang and the last should end it the same way.

I'd not worry too much where your video is in the order if your category is in the middle anywhere. If your video is either kicking off or ending the contest, your chances of winning that category are better than average.

That's been my observation, anyway...

So much for AnimeNEXT being a bellwether for Otakon. Last year we had three AnimeNEXT winners go on to win at Otakon ("The Harassment of Kyon", "Word Play", and "Love's In Your Eyes"), plus an ANEXT runner-up who won at Otakon ("Baccano Swing!").

Whereas this year, the Comedy, Romance, and Drama categories are all completely devoid of ANEXTers. :P The only one who's got a chance is Studio Hybrid.

Also, oh crap, I'm leading off the category.
