I agree. I think we have had to start with a fairly limited list and trim that down, so this time around the list may not be COMPLETELY balanced (as close as we can get, though), but from here on out we will continue to accumulate more and more of a list, comparing new AMVs to the older ones we have already rated. Because of this, our awards will only become more and more accurate as we accumulate a larger list.

Though I think this is an interesting idea, many on the org aren't going to take to it as much as the people on the tube would because quite a few of them loathe streaming sites, the lower quality etc. and some would rather keep the hobby "under ground" and not so mainstream.
Are you only going to take submissions?
or is this just a search of your own + submissions?
Another problem you are going to run into with streaming sites is the fact that people sometimes upload other people's videos to their own accounts (I have entire playlist of my videos uploaded by other people on one of my youtube accounts) you might have to check and re-check to make sure you credit the right people.

Good points. First of all, we searched for the videos we used in our first set of awards (currently underway), but now that we are getting a little bit of publicity we will be able to take submissions as well. So, to answer your question, both. As for the problem with finding the original creator on You-Tube, we realize this problem, and have tried our best to track down the original video in order to give credit to the right person (and get the best video quality). A couple of the videos were actually tracked to this site, so there are a couple of those in there.
Thank You.
Thank You.

i dun think you can convince anyone about youtube on here o_O. Plus downloads of HQ amvs are much better than shitty streamed videos. I don't think you will find much in quality and originality in any of the videos that may be in this contest...so i would just leave it and let it die >.> hopefully one day the same will happen to youtube =O

it still sounds like a group effort rec list to me (with fancy titles)... I say that if they want to do it let them... pretty much all they are wanting to do is spotlight a few amvs.. I mean it's not like you even have to submit to "join" the contest :3

Hmmm... hadn't actually thought about that... In fact, I was not aware that AMVs were against either You-Tube's or DailyMotion's TOS, as I've seen tons of them around. I think they're cool as long as you don't claim the anime or the song as your own...
Actually, after seeing some of the stuff on the top 10 percent and the Viewer's Choice awards on this site, I can almost guarantee that some of this stuff will make it into the next set of awards. To be honest, we were not aware of how popular this site was before posting on it and checking out some of the vids, so apologies are in order for that...
As far as the streaming video vs. HQ download goes, you're right, you can download the vids and get much better quality, all that good stuff. The problem arises if: you have slow internet, inability to download, limited hard-drive space. Sure, some of these situations may be a bit contrived, but streaming video is simply easier and much more immediate, so if you don't like the vid you don't have to bother deleting it... I don't know, It just seems easier to me, but everyone is most assuredly entitled to their own opinion.
Thank you all for your constructive criticism, and all of these comments will be taken into consideration. Keep 'em coming!

I think it´s easier to search the best amvs on this site and THAN search it on YT (of course uploaded by the original editor).
I think you don´t: I think it´s better to accept submissions and look on your own.
To the contest itself: Why not?
It actually shows people on YT what really good amvs look like. It´s not easy to improve and to try to make better if you don´t even know that there is a lot more out there.

You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases.
