So wait...is upbeat actually "upbeat" as in "up "and as in "beat" and as in "fast paced" and as in "not necessarily depressing or hopeful kind of upbeat but the kind that gets you movin to the groovin or just has a nice 'beat'" kind of upbeat.....

Upbeat was either light/happy peppy stuff, or things stitched together from various animes with no real correlation to each other, but everything happening with a beat. It's a tough differentiation for a lot of videos but some videos would only work in that category so we have to keep it around.

So...was this everyone who entered or was there an actual 'weeding out'?

We received 67 entries, we had room for the top 37 in the contest. There was a lot of weeding out. In fact, since some submissions were DQed for time, the overflow is as long as the contest O_O

oh I guess well forgot to tell you.. the winner of each category has to kill the other members (of the respective category) in order for you to receive your award/prize/certificate/whatever.. so I guess that means if you loose to yourself.. you have to kill yourself.. and if you don't win at all.. someone's still going to have kill you. hehe j/k ..you can pay someone to do all your dirty work for a fee.. no no no.. I'm still just kidding

Hmm. You seem to have a point The only thing I can think of is that the song is fairly uptempo, but you're right, the video isn't really all that happy

Thank you Vic for running the contest. So far it sounds like things are going smoothly.

Oh and if you could privately mail me about my other video. I'm just curious what category you would call it, as I'm kind of confused on it myself. So looking for other opinions. Thanks!

Looks like bribing the judges was worth it after all! Though someone must have been a bit unhappy about theirs, since 'Little' was misspelled.

I'm kind of surprised that you ended up with two videos in one category Q C- but then I also glanced through the rules and realized that unlike most, there wasn't a condition that I could see that you couldn't enter both videos into the same category. I feel for you, though- I ended up with two trailers competing against each other at Tekkoshocon this year (It's Tricky to Make a Trailer and The Powerpuff Revolutions), and I would have much preferred having just had one (ITTMAT was supposed to be in 'Comedy'...) so as to not split the votes and be competing against myself.

Good luck to everyone! I wish I could be there to see the contest, but it's just not in the cards (or the finances) this year.

Coolness, I made the cut - I was worried, 'cause I had to change my planned entry at, like, the last minute (no lie, I finished uploading it at 11:45 PM on Friday, and I really wish I had the time to beta it, some small glitches made it through). I'm scared, though - my little horror video is going up against some killers in action - I gotta remember not to genre-hop.
