Clip speed changing across multiple programs....

Postby Vivaldi » Tue Jun 23, 2009 7:23 pm

I'm doing the primary edit of my amv in AE. The framerate is 24.00, and I'm 30 seconds in.

I'm getting ready to export what I have, So I export it as an image sequence. I set the framerate to 24fps and render. I then Open the image sequence in Vdub-mod. Doublecheck to make sure the framerate's 24fps. And export in lags avi. I then import into vegas 6.0 to combine it with the music. The project is 24fps. But for some reason the clip's slower than it used to be. It's exactly the same length, but the timing's all late. It gets worse as the clip progresses, and no, it's not just because I forgot to pre-render. I happens whether it's pre-rendered, ram previewed, or exported. Somethings changed with the clip itself, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. So any help would be appreciated.

Another unrelated and fairly minor problem. In vegas, the audio will randomly start stuttering and get static. This is with .Wav audio.

Many thanks.

well the audio problem is probably you're audio card, it can't handle .wavs cuz they are uncompressed. try compressing it in 320 kb/s mp3 and it should sound better.

As for the speed problem I'm not too sure ... maybe your playback speed is set to like 150X or something? My advice is try exporting from AE as a lag .avi. It could be converting it from image sequence to avi that's messing it up. Could also just be a screwed up source. Make sure your export fps is 42? That's about all i can think of. :?
If all else fails, re-make all the clips and just substitute them for the old ones.

does the audio hook up when you import the image sequence into vegas rather than the avi?

is the footage interpretation correct in vegas?

is your audio sample rate the same as the vegas project sample rate? maybe vegas is conforming it incorrectly.

double check that the comp you sent to the render queue was 24fps.

can't really think of anything else... :?

Why are you rendering the image sequence into an .avi anyway? You can import an image sequence into Vegas as a single clip. Maybe that would fix your problem.

Of course, if you were cleaning it up in Vdub, then that's another story, I guess...
... yea ...
