Post by TriGGiT » Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:31 am

To anyone out there editing with ADobe premiere CS4 i have the following questions:
1-when exporting how do you export only your work area bar, rember that in CS3 and before you used to have the option of exporting only work area bar, where is it now in CS4

2-how do you change the Audio Codec in CS4.

1) With the area you want to export selected, you go to File > Export > Media and it will only export the part selected. You can change which part will be exported thanks to the yellow bar you have in the bottom-left area of the export window. By default, the area is the same of the work area bar in your timeline, that's why it will only export the part selected.

2) Unfortunately, when saving an avi, you can only export as wav. You can however export with other kinds of codec when you wish to export just the audio. In the Format list, there are some options to choose from, some of which include "Audio Only" (which will export as AAC), "MP3", "Windows Waveform" (to export WAV), and "Audio Interchange File Format" (AIFF). Those are the choices you have when exporting only audio. However, if you wish to export video with audio, the audio kind will depend on the video - so if you choose to export as MP4 ("H.264" in the list), the audio will be AAC, if you choose to export as AVI ("Microsoft AVI" in the list), WAV will be the kind of audio, and if you choose "Windows Media", it'll be WMV9 (video codec) + WMA (audio codec) into WMV (container). Exporting in MPEG2 will leave you a couple more choices, but still limited.
In any case, it is suggested to export "Microsoft AVI", with the Video Codec set to "None". The compression should be done in other programs, such as VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod, MeGUI, Zarx264gui or whatever else you might want to use.
