how do you fade into and out of effects.

Adjust it's settings over time using keyframes.

i thought i got how to do it but i dont......can you explain?

To fade in for example, on the effects menu, you go to the begining of the clip and set all the to zero so that you can't see the effect. Then (on the effects menu) go down the "timeline" for however long you want the fade to be, then adjust the settings to however strong you want the effect to be. A keyframe will automaticly be placed, and the effect will fade in.


A simpler but less controled method, would be to copy your clip onto a track directly above the original. Apply the effect to the whole top track, and then just fade that in over the original.
