Slow replay.

Post by iGREASE » Sun Jul 13, 2008 9:50 pm

Let me just start off by saying I'm a noob at this.
Ok, so pretty much everytime I attempt to make an AMV, I start editing with Vegas, but when I try to do stuff. Even with a few simple Fade Ins, it will lag/skip frames. And then I get pissed because I can't get my ideas to work because it lags. Now also, I know it's not Vegas's fault, cause other stuff has worked well on it before. Please & Thanks to whoever attempts to help me with my problem.

The file I'm trying to work with:
[redacted] Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 01 RAW (D-TBS DivX6.6 1280x720)
Size: 644 MB
File Type: .avi

System Specs: (If even needed)
Os: Vista (Blah)
RAM: 3.07GB
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU @ 2.33 GHz

What do you mean "Player"? Cause I'm talking about editing in Vegas 7.0.

Uhg, sorry for the double post, but I would also have no clue where to buy Code Geass R2 episodes at.

Well it's obvious you're using Divx files, a big no-no when it comes to editting, as they are lossy(in that they lose quality) and are more for distribution than editting. If you must (and I use the term very loosely), then you should download Avisynth and VirtualDubMod, or just all of the AMVApp. Then make an avs script, load it in VDubMod and export it as something lossless, such as HuffYUV, Lagarith, or Uncompressed.

Well the quality is actually very good. But anyways, so you are saying that I should pretty much make them xXGB files to make the play better?

HOLY CRAP, I didn't see the Vegas' fault part. Sorry about that.
But anyway, you could buy the episodes almost anywhere. Amazon is having a sale on DVDs right now I think. I'm sure Ebay would have some, but be cautious of those piraters. :|

yes, I pretty much am. You see, though the quality may be very good currently, DivX wasn't meant to be editted with, it was meant to be used to reduce file size so it can be distributed, and so it bugs out when you try to put it in an editting program. To wit, the link for further explination:

click that banner and it will tell you more than I can.
