Transitions in Pinnacle Studio 10

Postby Cambdoranononononono » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:18 pm

When I output a file (uncompressed, HuffUV, DV) from Pinnacle Studio, the fades and dissolves end up with a bunch of horizontal lines:

Is this what they're supposed to be like? It doesn't seem like it, based on the other videos I've seen. Assuming I'm right about this being wrong, does anyone have any suggestions on what I might do?

Turn off interlacing. Export as progressive.

That worked, except that the output file now has a bunch of jagged edges. I think it's related to the fact that Pinnacle thinks the footage I'm importing is interlaced, even though it's progressive. Is there a specific tag on the video file that might indicate this, or is Pinnacle just testing it automatically and getting it wrong?

Well, I already forced the project into progressive format, since when it uses the footage to set the format it uses interlaced. This resolved the transition issue, but caused the second problem, which I assumed was caused by Studio thinking that I put interlaced footage in a progressive project. My second question was based on this assumption.

I couldn't find any way to set the output to progressive in the "Make File" settings

or anything else I've checked, so I haven't actually changed anything that's more directly related to export options.

Was I right about the cause of the problem, or is there some other thing I need to change that I've missed?

I've never use the software, but make sure your project is set for progressive footage, your imported footage is correctly recognized as progressive (assuming of course that it actually is), and that your export settings also shows that you're exporting as progressive. All 4 of these things are important.

I think my problem is the second of those. I guess I'll see if I can get someone on the Pinnacle forums to tell me about how to get Studio to recognize the footage correctly. (Though advice is still welcome in case someone here knows.) Thanks for the help!
