A simple fade out in Pinnacle studio 10

Post by Ravensoldier22 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 12:08 am

ok, well what I'm trying to achieve is a fade out on a clip, and the very next clip coming right after that without a fade in

the fade transition in pinnacle comes as one whole transition, using the fade out and in...but I only want to use the fade out part

can this be done?
I've done everything I can to try and edit the transition itself so it only uses the half I want, but to no avail....

any one? :(

.. old school answer;
1) make a black.bmp
2) turn it into a five second video ( by repeating the .bmp )
3) use the video that you are fading-out on and fade to the black video
4) fade-in from the black video to the new clip.

well, the next question would be

what's a .bmp?

and how do I go about using it in pinnacle as a transition for fading out without fading in?

.. your joking .. right !?? .. 0_0 .. Eeeeew, we got us a pigeon ...

... the Graphics Editor:
1) downloaded a trial version of graphics editor.
2) looked at the size of the Video I was working with .. 704 X 396
3) in the graphics editor, I made a 704 X 396 black picture.
.. a) saved it as Black.bmp
.. b) saved it as Black.jpg

... the Studio 9, 10, 11 ( makes no difference because they all work the same. ):
4) opened the Photo area to C:\ ... it automatically save the images available.
5) put the Studio in Storybook Mode.
Image
6) dragged the Black image to the storybook frames many times.
7) switched into Make Movie.
Image
.. now back to the line edit mode.
8) Open your project back to the video on line 1 and add the Black.avi in the timeline where you want it to dafe to black on line 2 while adding your new video on line 1 where the black ends and your new video should start.
9) use the Fade-out/in transition to the desired length on both lines of videos.

.
.
.. if for some reason your using the Basic version, there is a simpler way to do all that, just find the "Fade Transition" and set the "time" of the fade-out and black and fade-in lengths to three seconds.
Image
.. either way is acceptable.

.. and no edit button >_<

each of the Fade-out, black and fade-in lengths can be set with the basic and Primium packages. to quickly "drop-in" the new video while fading-out the old video, simply set "fade-in" to -1

// sorry for the double-post \\

.. that's not the problem; he wants to slowly fade-out on one clip while jumping-in with another on a Single Line Basic Editor. The fade-out on the Single-line-editor does not fade-out and stop; it then feeds in the next clip -- and that is where the problem begins!
