Jashaka How good is it, and How do you use it?

Post by anglbebe » Wed May 23, 2007 3:35 pm

Since I have been assigned the virtual guinnea(sp) pig on this one. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this blasted thing or if they knew even how to import the video. Its proported as being the open source version of After Effects, with better features after some research my friends very nicely decided I should try it. How nice of them. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Sorry the program in question is Jahshaka.

When I had 1 GB RAM I tried to use it, but I simply can´t, because it needed so much hardware. Now I have 2 GB and use After Effects. AE already worked good with 1GB and therefore I don´t see a reason why I should change the effect program ^^

But for all those who search for a good freeware program: Jashaka seams to be good. That´s for sure! If I remeber right... The filesize of the installation file was very low too.
or if they knew even how to import the video.
How to use Jashaka:

*cough*

Nothing more to say in my eyes.

Ummm... I'm actually reading that right now. But maybe i didn't say it right. I was kinda rushed. I guess I was asking for tip, and tricks. Like shortcuts and if anyone knew any "shortcuts". like say take paintshop for example, you can go to edit undo or its just easier to hit ctrl+z. Ya know things like that. Sorry for the confusion.

Doesn´t the short cuts always stand in the helpfile or section of a program?
Maybe you find there some usefull hints.

Jahshaka doesn´t seam to be popular at amv stuff, so don´t be annoyed if nobody has some tipps for you. =D

Yeah, I'm begining to see why. I've been using it for about 45 minutes now. and the tutorials I'm working off of say do x,y,z, but not in windows. GREAAAT.

(shortcuts) Yeah I got to those but, This seems to be a little to peticular with the file types, and not all that easy to use. I had to rerender things in Vegas to use them. no big deal I had to do that in AE. (Darn i miss that proggy.) But its awfully fond of crashing. But I will trek onward. DANG IT!

I've heard it's too buggy to use effectively, but I haven't tried for myself.

Yeah, even with the tutorials I gave up on it within about 30 minutes. I definitely admire the idea and I'd really love to see more open source video editing/effects/compositing programs that are on par with the commercial software. But as of this point, at least IMO, this program doesn't cut it.
