Quick question, quick answer pls

Post by Reen@ » Sun Mar 25, 2007 11:04 am

I have a schoolproject for which I need to do a video presentation. I planned to make a karaoke video of a foreign singer and clip.
Now I wish to have it look professionel and so I hoped to get some quick suggestions of a program I could use best for this.
The basic idea is to edit the file and enter the lyrics as subtitles. However I want to know if it is possible to make the subtitles in a way like they look in various Anime intros.
Example: (for an idea of my desire)

Shuffle! Intro or Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle intro 1 or 2

I hope one can answer me very quick before midnight

Thanks forwardly

If you want to create karaoke-type subtitles like many fansubbers do, then I suggest doing some light reading: :P

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=74569
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=72830

To sum up, basic subtitles can be done with virtually any video editing program using the titling function. More advanced subs like color changing (for karaoke) can be achieved with an image editor (like Photoshop) and video editor that allows overlays. The really fancy stuff you can do yourself via the second method or by using Aegisub. An alternative is using AviSynth.

@Willen: I'm going to kiss the floor you walked on, my savior!!!!!

Aegisub looks like THE perfect software I have been looking for. Although I'd like to know how it could work for me with Photoshop.

Mr. Panda's post here linked a text guide to SubStationAlpha and AquaSky linked another one here. For Aegisub, it's best to start reading canikizu's posts here.

As for Photoshop + video editing program, you'll want to make image files of the text and put them over a green or black background, import the images and green-screen or luminance out the background leaving the text over the video (as described by AMV_4000). BUT, this does require an video editing program capable of overlaying video tracks (basically anything more powerful than WMM, like Premiere or Vegas). It's probably easier to just use the built-in titler function of the program unless you want fancy moving/turning/growing/changing text.
