Sorry. When I mean split, I mean splitting a track by tapping the 'S' button.

If you split it then the master clip should still be intact. Import the clip again?

When you split - or do most anything that changes duration - you are only affecting an opening on the timeline, not the video data. The original file is not touched.

Something to try: put a clip on the timeline and (S)plit it. Then drag the right-hand piece down the timeline or to another track. Then drag the left edge of that piece. You will get the original clip back. Same thing if you drag the right edge of the other (left-hand) piece.

So the answer to your question is simply to delete one of the split pieces and drag the edge of the remaining piece.
