It's been many different prices in the 6 1/2 years since that was posted. The thread really just needs to be killed.pan_dbgt01 wrote:I think this needs an update. Vegas is like $130 bucks now.

How about a Current Software thread, with only shit from the last year or two? At least people know when they have old crap then? (hi virtualdubmod)

Re: Software Lists [Updated]
Yeah, I agree. I think we need to somehow let people know what software is supported by people in the hobby, currently.
This sticky may have been relevant in the past, but it's probably more confusing than anything now.
Even these do a better job IMO:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vi ... g_software
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... g_software
and not to sound like a broken record, but: just google "AMV app," and see what sort of relics turn up.

Re: Software Lists [Updated]
yeah; I don't think this listing is really helping anybody!
Most of the Video Editors & Directors 'come with the Newer Computers today.
hmmm, now if a laptop had the option of Avid Media Composer or Sony Vegas Pro on-board,
then this list would be totally useless .. unless you, for some reason, actually wanted
Adobe Premiere Pro or Magix Video Pro!!!!

There is a download link for Windows Movie Maker. Live does nothing but crash for me. I google'd it and found it.NeoQuixotic wrote:Windows Movie Maker has gone through several revisions. The latest can be found at

or

It is part of the Windows Live Essential apps, but you can select to install only WMM. Also, you need Vista/7 to use it; XP is no longer supported.

Re: Software Lists [Updated]
Another really great easy program editing is Cyberlink PoweerDirector 11. I've been using PowerDirector ever since I started editing. If anyone is using software such as like windows movie maker or similar, I highly recommend using this software before jumping into more complex spftware such as Vegas or After Effects. Plus its affordable
