Vegas and HitFilm VS. Premier and After Effects?

Post by Dissonance85 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 3:46 pm

Hello everyone,
I am not new to video editing; I'm well versed in Vegas and have dabbled in Premier a bit. I have been away from editing for a while and plan to get a new computer and brand new editing software to get back into it. As such, I am wondering if I should stick with Vegas or turn over to Adobe. From what I've seen, if it's just Vegas vs. Premier I would pick Vegas but their partners in crime are what make the decision a little more difficult. I've seen a few comparisons and watched a few tutorials on each and I have one concern: Does either have a masking tracking function? I'm pretty positive that AAE has this function in it's CC form but I'd rather not use that version.

Masking is my far my most favorite, overused effect ever and I really need a program that makes it easy. With this in mind, which would you recommend?

I think you should stick with Vegas.

Vegas is the best. It has everything in it an editor needs :)

Premiere is better in the sense that it is less limited than vegas once you get used to the few extra steps, but since you are skilled with Vegas, then just stick with it. Also from what I remember Premiere doesn't have masking, AEE does have masking with the pen tool and the rotobrush. Though I think the easiest program to mask is Photoshop but that`s subjective.
