Clip Sound vs Audio Track

I'm having some issues with WMM and audio.

Despite muting the sounds from the clip, it insists on playing them when I play the timeline.
I also cannot play the audio track witht he clips, it doesn't play. This is probably the noobiest question out but I am new to using the programme and I'd appreciate the help.

sounds like you moved the audio levels slider towards "audio from video" instead of to the right (audio from music)
