wmm and ffdshow

what the fuck is with this ffdshow? when i turn my wmm and want to create a clip in bottom right corner pops up ffdshow audio decoder icon. when i do just a little change in my clip another one pops out - i had like twenty of them. it crashes my wmm.

WHAT THE FOOCK!? O_O

oh and i forgot to write some techincal info.
I hav CCCP installed ..nothing else.

cccp includes ffdshow.
ffdshow is a very useful thing. It can decode a bunch of different filetypes (most notably .mp4, .mkv and .ogm)
...the only problem is that (on default settings) it tends to try to do too much.

IIRC it tries to decode divx/xvid avi, huffyuv avi, mpeg2 and various other video and audio files...which is great unless you already have a codec to decode those things.

I don't know exactly what I'm doing next...but like other things I played around with it and managed to "fix" the problem.
navigate to the cccp program folder from your start menu.
click ffdshow video decoder configuration
be sure to start at the top of the list...wherever you see libavcodec or xvid in the decoder colomn look to the left.
if you see the name of a codec that you know that you have, left click the decoder colomn.
this should bring up a drop-down menu, expand the menu and select "disabled".
repeat until you hit the bottom of the list.

on my machine, I only have the following enabled:
FVFW,FFDS (libavcodec)
h.264 (libavcodec)
FFV1 (libavcodec)
Theora (libavcodec)

other codecs installed (besides the ones that windows comes with):
huffyuv
lagarith
picvideo MJPEG
divx
xvid
x.264

it would help to know what filetype you're working with, and the codec it is encoded with.
not sure if this applies in your case, but it may be worthwhile to check to see if haali media splitter is splitting avi files.
the reccomended setting is that split avi files is off, but I'm not sure if that's because of the other codecs commonly used by people here.

Don't forget to disable ffdshow's support for any <i>audio</i> codecs you already have as well.

Thanks a lot. It was ffdshow's audio decoder.
it doesnt pop up anymore, is it okay?
now i have haali media splitter pop out in the same spot. how do i turn it off? (do i have to?)
Wmm crashes as it used to crash. i think this nonsense started when CCCP has been installed.

i cant connect two cutted clips to each other. the screen shows nothing just black. u said smtn about haali splitting the avi files.

could be that you're trying to edit divx/xvid encoded footage.

I don't want to search for the wmm banner...so I'll just link you instead:

I'd suggest uninstalling the Haali Media Splitter and then reinstalling it, but this time, make sure you <i>don't</i> set it to split AVI files in the installation screens.
