I used to have that same problem when I was using WMM. When it happened, my computer would tell me that I was getting low on virtual memory (I don't know if that has happened to you..). So, I went into my settings and allotted more space for virtual memory, tried to save the file again, and it worked. I'm not sure if that will work in your situation (or if it's the best thing to do), but it worked for me.
Or...you can just keep trying to save it. Try restarting your computer, or waiting awhile before trying to save it again. I have no idea why, but sometimes WMM would then allow me to save the file if I did either of those things. /:
