After Effects CS3 hates me

So one day, I thought to myself, "hmmm...I think after effects cs3 is installed on that computer! I'm bored. I'm gonna go check it out!"
I joyfully skipped over, sat down, and double clicked on the icon.
It started to load, but didn't actually get anywhere. I waited, and it was taking a loong time, and the only thing it said was "initializing type engine."
I clicked on it, the rectangle turned white, and i got the hourglass of doom T_T
Anyone have any ideas? I can't find any information about it in google, and I'm a noob, so I'm not quite sure where to start.
And I seriously doubt it's that the computer can't handle it. Q6600 (stock :/), radeon 4870, 4 gb of ram. That should be plenty...right?
