I prefer vegas cause I'm quite sure you can add adobe effects plug ins, abode software is more expensive ,and more professional well I think you can use alot of programs to be more effective.

asking in a place for adobe users isn't where i would look for unbiased opinions.

with that said, use premiere. vegas users all get hepatitis c

my advice:
get the trial versions of both, make a short little video and see which one you like better

I own both Vegas and the CS3 Production Suite. That said, I actually prefer Vegas as an NLE; it just feels like a smoother experience IMO, even if Premiere is usually considered the more 'professional' NLE. However, even though I like Vegas more than Premiere, I also find apps like Photoshop and Illustrator to be invaluable in a lot of projects. And once I learn After Effects (which I'm in the process of), I have a feeling it'll prove incredibly useful as well.

So, if all you're looking for is an NLE, I would say Vegas is the more user friendly of the two. Last I checked, it takes fewer system resources as well, so if you think your system may have a tendency to hang when editing complex video, you might consider Vegas.

(FYI, the reason I have both is because Vegas is on my PC and CS3 is on my Mac.)

On a side note, yes, I do not have any AMVs on the ORG. I haven't made any AMVs as of yet. But I have worked in video production for 3-4 years now, I've done some freelance and contract work, and I'm majoring in visual communications. So just because I don't have anything on this site doesn't mean I haven't edited video before. :P
... yea ...

This is the best advice.

I use Vegas and I've tried the trial version of Premiere before. I find that Vegas is easier to figure out. Premiere seemed more complicated. But with Vegas, i do find that sometimes the frames aren't alway precisely accurate and sometimes they will render differently then they look in the preview window, so it's always a good idea to do a small test render of a precision section in your video to make sure it will come out right before the final render.

I've tried both, and I say vegas for one reason. I'm an editor who likes to pan/crop lots of times and my versions of premiere (CS3/2.0) didn't include any panning. I hate to move to After Effects in order to do that, which really is a waste of time. Sony Vegas is also so much easier to figure out/use unlike the Adobe Suite.

However, by saying that just means Adobe has much more effects and transitions therefore if you're an editor who is into effects & transitions, I'd use that.

lol wut? Position and zoom are presets on every clip that can be key-framed easily.
