Video Effects in Premiere

Postby Toshi.des » Sat Sep 08, 2007 10:21 am

Hi, I was wanting to know if there's a stroke effect or border effect for your clips in premiere. Like how photoshop has strokes around images. It seems to have strokes in titles but I can't find a it in video effects.

Also I am looking for a flip effect for a transition but one that would just flip a specific clip and not the whole screen. Like if I have a clip in the background taking up the whole screen and then have another that has been cut in height and want that one to flip into the opposite position.

I would also be interested if anyone knew any sites that help teach and had more effects about the effects in premiere.

Help appreciated.

About the stroke, I don't know of any stroke effect like that. The best thing I could tell you to do would be create the stroke in Photoshop then Import it in and place it in a track over the video.

About the flip, my suggestion here would be to make a seq of the clip flipping and then nest that on inside the main seq.

About effect site, there probably are site out there how ever most people that use premiere also use after effects and AE has a lot more effects and power for that sort of thing. Furthermore there's a large amount of sites that cover AE, creative cow for example.

For the stroke try the "clip" effect. Its found under Video Effects > Transform > Clip.
For example, just set all of the settings to 3 and change the color white. And you get a 3 pixel border all around in the color white.
