Convert them to lossless AVIs via Avisynth. Directshowsource() is your friend.

Mh, I thought that AviSynth could be the answer.. Thanks a lot.
Btw, it's a lot of time that I don't play with it, Do I have to just save it with that scrypt?

Make an .avs file:

Code: Select all
directshowsource("myawesomehdfootage.mp4")

Open that in VirtualDub and save the file/clips as AVI in Fast Recompress mode. Lagarith would be a good codec.

Importing mp4 in AE is nuts...

If you really really want to do it:
DirectShowSource("C:\Path\video.mp4")

Use ffdshow with makeAVIs or VFAPI (should be in the AMVApp3 beta) and use the extracted fake avi file in AE. Sounds wired, but it´s pretty easy.

Thanks everyone for your help. :)
I really appreciate that, but sadly something strange happens when I try to use that Avisynth's Scrypt.. I was sure it would have worked. =\ It says:

'Unrecognized Exception!'

Omg I'm so n00b with these program. :S
I tried to put the avs into the same folder of the footage, quitting or not the Path but neh, same error.

Sorry for the double post.

I also tried with some .mkv files and it does the same error.
I hope it's my fault, any suggestion?

I honestly Don't Think After effects can import avs scripts. Can they?

they cant but if you read the rest of Bauzis post you can import dummy avis that can trick AE into reading an avs script like an avi file.
