Another Masking topic - Audio+Frame chopping ( Lipsyncing )

Postby shosaisyu » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:00 pm

Basically I have some questions. Basically, i'm doing some masking, trying to lipsync, BUT

http://i13.tinypic.com/67qczn9.jpg

I can't get an audio preview on the exact section of flim I want, it just samples the first part of the track and then stops about 30sec in

Secondly, I want to be able to take one open mouth frame, and stretch the duration out. How would I do that?

And thirdly, I want to add an "outer glow" to the character i'm masking. How would I do that?

Thanks for the help. ^^;

For your first problem: Layer - Time - Freeze Frame

One way to add an outer glow is to use the basic Glow effect. Have the option "Glow Based On" set to Alpha Channels and "Composite Original" set On Top. Tweak the threshold, radious and intensity to your own liking. There is probably a better way that enable you to blend the outer glow with the mask, but I'm still rather new to AE myself.

Freeze-frame freezes the entirety of the clip, adding additional time freeze keyframes seems to do nothing. With this pattern I just freeze one section of the clip, copy the clip to a new line, freeze another section,and so on?

Nope, but there is time remapping. If you learn to use that properly you can work wonders.

AE isn't an NLE, so your entire mindset on editing with it should be different than with something like Premiere. Nest and overlay... don't try to work it like an NLE.

You can go to Creative Cow and watch the Lip-Syncing in After Effects podcast (it is at the bottom of the page) . I think this will help you.
