Is it possible to import .rm or .mp4, etc into premiere pro cs3? I converted them to .rm and .mp4 to save space but if the only way to import them is .avi then I'll convert them back.

I don't think you can import .rm or mp4 files into premiere. But even if you could, I'd still suggest converting all the footage you plan on using into avi format with a lossless codec. That way you can preserve your footage quality.

Look into the guides too:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtechbeta/

Because... You wanted to compress a already comrpessed file. Use it in Premiere. Maybe compress it again as output and finally compress it in VDM with XviD.

...and compressing a file that is already compressed doesn´t really work when you want a good visual quality and not crap.
