Premiere Pro + .ogms?

Postby Beneous » Fri Feb 23, 2007 7:51 pm

Hiyo all,
I just got Adobe Premiere pro and I've been running into difficulties. I've been trying to make a Noir AMV and my files are ogms, which Adobe won't take. I've tried finding converter programs but have been largely unsuccessful. Any help would be much appreciated. I haven't been this excited about making a video in awhile so I'd do a little jig for anyone who can help thanks :P

I may be jumping to conclusions...but you shouldn't use downloaded footage if at all possible.

that said, virtualdubmod can import ogm files, and then you can easily re-encode your footage from there.

you'll want to encode it with a lossless codec such as lagarith (prefferably small clips, as entire episodes encoded losslessly would take a lot of space and cpu power/ram to edit)

I asked a friend of mine to get me some noir footage, and since he had the DVDs I figured he used his capturing stuff to get it. Have to talk to him about that. After that I'll check out the nifty codec and virtualdubmod program. Thanks a bunch :D It's hard starting out and not knowing the nifty programs available. I should probably buy my own capture equiptment but my wallet hasn't been that friendly, especially after getting Priemeire pro. Oh the qualms of the poor university student  Anywho, know I sound like a broken record but thanks.

if you (or your friend) have the dvds and a dvd drive on your computer then you can rip the footage from the dvds.

it's a bit of a process but you'll get the best quality possible.
Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides for more info (the whole guide is pretty much footage prep)

I wouldn't recommend re-encoding .ogm files for use of making AMVs. I tried this with my Rurouni Kenshin episodes and they won't at all work in Premiere, or just about any other editing software besides Windows Movie Maker. So, as the person above me mentioned, it's better to just rip your own footage.

Downloaded footage is quite a hassle.
