question on some effects

Postby Jasta85 » Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:27 am

ok, im still pretty new to adobe primiere pro 2.0 but im starting to get the hang of it, about to start workin on my second amv that will be using it but there are still so many great effects out there that i have seen in other amvs that i have no idea how to duplicate, for instance.

in Bleach Raishuu

there was one effect i really wanted to use. one was the one he uses at the very beginning and at 0:57 with the pictures comming together from 9 pieces, i was stumped on how to replicate this, i dont even know if is actually part of adobe primiere.

also there are a number of videos which do this but it involves using sort of rectangles or bands that move across the screen, Kadaj's Chop Suey #357 uses this a lot in the first 45 seconds of the amv, im talking about the moving stripe like things. also a similar effect at about 1:48-1:53

ive also seen in other amvs where they fit clips within these bands, something i would also like to do

now i realise that these people are using a lot of other programs other than adobe primiere pro 2.0 and it may not even have these features so i wanted to find out if it can produce these effects as i might not find them if i looked by myself, thanks ahead of time

simple animation of shapes/mattes/masks is done in adobe simply with keyframes.

I don't think there's an effect in Premiere Pro that does this kind of thing automatically, but you can simulate it: make nine copies of your clip in the timeline and stack them in different video tracks, apply the Garbage Matte to each one, then adjust the Garbage Matte settings for each one separately so that each clip only has a certain different part of the whole thing showing.
Then use the clips' Motion settings to make them all move the way you want.

hmm, i had thought of doing something similar to that, it was just that in the video there are 9 pieces and only 4 tracks, havnt used the garbage matte yet, i'll take a look, thanks

guess i'll experiment around a little, to see what works, any particular category of effects that you use to make these shapes?

Masks (and clips for that matter) have position values... you change those and get smaller boxes and whatnot. You then change them over time with keyframes for movement.

(info is from 1.5 but i guess they wouldn't change it that much in 2.0)
1. In Project/settings/default sequence you can choose how many tracks should you sequence have.
2.Even if your sequence is done already, just go sequence/add track and you can add as much as you want. Or you can simply drag video to the blank space over the last track and it will create another track automathically

if you're using premiere pro, it automatically adds tracks to the project. You just have to drag and drop the clips one above each other.
