I've read through everything there is in that guide about avisynth and have done everything that's supposed to make it work, yet I still get the black screen with the avs file...

post your project settings, video properties (gspot is better than windows for telling you stuff about video/audio files) and post your script
you can use the code tags
Code: Select all
put text in here
to make it easier to spot/read

also post system specs (just in case that's part of the problem)

Try changing from "AviSource" to "DirectShowSource"

Also, how do you do the effect when a couple frames flash in the video for a quick second? A lot of good amvs have this effect, but I can't see how to do it.

Is that how you'd also do the transition where it becomes increasingly brighter until it practically white and then goes to the next scene?

That works, but you could also use the "additive Dissolve" transition.

Ah, that's much easier.

Is there a way to do the shatter effect in premiere?

Not that i know of. You may be able to find 3rd party plugin for a shatter effect. But the easiest way to make it is in After Effects. Effects > Simulation > Shatter.

IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, THEN YOUR CLIP WILL LOOK ALL JAGGED AND UGLY!!

Is there a way to do this for the whole project as opposed to having to reselect this for every clip?

As far as I can see you need to do it for each clip as you speed up or slow down.
