Zarx264gui 1.31 - April 11, 2010

Postby Zarxrax » Sun Apr 11, 2010 4:08 pm

I have released a new version of Zarx264gui, and reverted many of the changes from the previous version. There were a number of problems cropping up with it, and my number 1 goal here is to create something that is stable and actually WORKS. Unfortuntely, 64bit x264 is no longer supported.
If you were having problems, please try the new one and let me know of any problems that you encounter.

Changelog:
- using x264 r1538
- removed warning message when encoding without audio
- outputs shorter commandlines
- batch scripts now contain a "Pause" command at the end
- added 'superfast' preset
- added 'fastdecode' tune

is it possible to use a downloaded x264.exe with this? And if so, can it be 64-bit?

As long as the x264 core version is the same. 64bit will not work.

If you want to use 64-bit, get the 1.3 and update the 64bit x264 in there. People were lamenting issues though, so it might not work anyway.

learn something useless every day. Of course the useful info is that zarxgui is a POS because it forces me to use outdated versions.

It does nothing of the sort. You can use updated x264 versions just fine.
Though I would hardly consider a build from less than a month ago to be "outdated".

Alan, check the changelog. :P
Although the latest changes are mostly related to bd encoding (with a notable exception in the bugfix of the low subme thing), so meh.
But anyway, I tested zarxgui 1.31 and it seems to work fine with r1570 (core 94) (latest revision atm), despite the different core version of r1538 (core 93).
It'd be nice to note, though, that if you want to easily use x264 to its fullest, you'd be better of just using bat files instead of zarxgui.

MeGUI's developers abandoned it half a year ago. ZarxGUI is far more recent. Now please vivisect yourself for using that abomination.

wat? they abandoned it? well I was in jail then and my PC is still in some evidence warehouse. meGUI was the best of the best, I guess I'll just have to develop it myself, once I learn how to program a real program, and not the stupid shit I did in school for 2 years.

For some reason, the program has suddenly stopped working for me. I havent made any changes to the settings, so I don't have a clue as to why it always gives me a error message when I click encode. I decided to uninstall my version and download the new versions, but the problem remains.

Every time I click encode, I get a message saying "there is a problem with your input audio". Here is a screen-cap of the message.

Spoiler :

Zarx264gui uses avisynth to load the audio, and in this case, it is avisynth that is throwing the error, saying that it can't read the audio.
Can you post the avisynth script that is being used, and also tell us what audio codec your audio is encoded with? If you aren't sure, you can use mediainfo to find out.

Make sure that when you exported the audio from your NLE you exported it as 16bit audio and not 24bit... depending on what you're doing with it, 24bit can give issues... and CDs are 16bit anyway.
