Avisynth and Windows 7

Postby Kazemon15 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 6:14 pm

Are they compatible?

Cuz I just got a new laptop that has Windows 7 and I'm trying to use a script... I already installed AMVapp and everything else, but when I try to open it up in Virtual dub I get "VirtualDub Error: Avisynth open failure: Avisynth: script open failed!"

Does this have something to do with Windows 7 or is it something else? Thanks in advance.

avisynth 2.5.8 works just fine with my win 7 (64-bit win7 professional)

Try going into avisynth's plugins folder (/program files/avisynth2.5/plugins/) and look for warpsharp.dll.
If you find it, take it out of the plugins directory and try again.

If you need to use warpsharp.dll, you can use loadplugin()

I tried what you said, still won't work.... <<

I have Windows 7 Home Premium. Should I uninstall and reinstall AMVapp?

Okay as I was trying to reinstall AMVapp, when it reached the Avisynth part, it kept saying this:

And you're not running any program that involves AVISynth (other than the installer)?

And by the way, Alt+PrintScreen is a good way to get a screenshot of just the active window, if you don't want people knowing who your AOLIM buddies are.

You look like you have an old version of the AMVapp (judging from the screenshot).
That error message means that something is currently using Avisynth. Reboot your computer, uninstall avisynth, then reinstall.

Just get the latest zarxgui from here and skip the H264 Tools step. The nero codec is probably located somewhere else now so it doesn't find the download link anymore.

Okay, I skipped it... and everything installed seemingly okay, except the Avisynth tests all failed... and the scripts still won't work... <<

As I said earlier, you are using an old version of the amvapp, and that is causing those problems. You really ought to download the latest one...

Everything seems to be finally working.

I have one more question though.

I managed to open an MKV softsub file in Virtualdub, but for some reason, the subtitles are not showing up. I've looked all around the web to see how I can enable the subs and save it to AVI with hardsubs, but all the threads say I have to use a filter and add them. I do not have subtitles to add since they are directly on the MKV file itself. How do I enable the subtitles from the MKV subtitle track in Virtualdub? Before I got my new laptop, my old one would add them automatically, so I never had this problem before.

Thanks again.

Use directshowsource instead of ffmpegsource and they should load automatically. Otherwise you could demux them and load them manually, albeit that might require you to demux the fonts along with the subs and installing those fonts on your system.
