premiere not showing my footage

Postby ExSphere » Fri Jan 08, 2010 2:29 am

So I got some 720p sources and threw them in vdubmod and put them as directshowsource. Turned them into lossless files and rendered away. When it was done the file played all the way through on KMPlayer and showed up as a 50GB file. So I threw it in premiere and only the first 2 minutes showed up on the timeline. If you have any advice as to why this is happening and have a solution, please let me know. Thanks

Care to specify exactly which lossless codec you used? If it's lagarith and you used the nullframes option, perhaps premiere didn't like it. That's about all I have atm, tho. <_>

Yep it's Lagarith, but I didn't have it on Enable Null frames.
The only thing I had checked was "Use Multithreading" and it's on YV12 mode.

try checking "always suggest RGB for output" or changing the mode to RGB

I usually only use YV12 mode since it's a smaller file size. But I got 2 TB for xmas so I got room to spare. I'll test it out right now and see what happens.

mk, I tried the RGB and It didn't work either :(
I tried rebooting and I got nothing also. I'm starting to think it just might be CS3

Tried loading the avi file through avisynth? If it's lossless (which is your case) and you just have the avisource in there it will be just as fast. It's kind of a temporary solution, but if it works, there's nothing wrong to it. <.<

I did that for a while, but it always causes my premiere to lag up, and slow down.
Will the same problem occur if I upgrade to CS4 you think?

I work fine with 1080p lags in cs4, yv12 w/ suggested rgb checked. So I guess that if switching to CS4 won't do it, it might be an hardware issue (eg not enough RAM or something, not sure what PC you're on, though), but I think it's unlikely.

I know this issue. Your files are 23.976 fps. Premiere doesn't like you for doing this.

What version of premiere are you using? Premiere pro has been taking 23.976 just fine for a good while...
Sometimes it reads them as 23.98 instead of 23.976 for whatever reason, but it never happened to me that it cut them down in length.

The only reason Premiere's ever cut anything down to 2-3 minutes for me was using 23.976 fps footage. And it didn't even happen with all the footage, it was like 2 out of 3 clips - so it's really just a weird buggy problem.

I have pro 2, guess we're about to see if they still haven't gotten their asses to fix that on CS 3.

That might explain it, then. Pro 2 was like one of the first version with a proper 23.976 timeline in premiere.
