Problem with ripping part of a dvd

Postby Jade Aislin » Fri Sep 11, 2009 6:07 am

I have been using DVDFab 6 to rip my Gundam Wing dVds. However, on one of the last discs I ran into a problem. I already new that these two episodes were bad as I couldn't play them on my dvd player, but I was hoping I'd still be able to rip them. I was able to rip them but I got these screen shots I took from DGIndex:

Is there anything I can do to fix them? I really want to have access to the whole series for clips.

First thing that comes to mind is try another dvd ripping program (like dvd decrypter, which is part of the amvapp)

DVDFab is better than DVDDecrypter, actually...
Anyways, as he said that...

...my guess is that it actually is the DVD that is corrupt and you're out of luck. Might want to call the consumer support of whoever authored the DVDs to know if it's just your copy and if you can get a new DVD.

Are the discs scratched? That might be your problem.

If they are, then the scratch must have penetrated the specific data of those episodes. :x

I was afraid someone would say that. Unfortunately, I can't even remember when I got the box set (it's the second part of the gundam wing ultimate collection.) I suppose I could try contacting Bandai, but I'm not sure I can get a replacement DVD.

As far as I can tell, it isn't scratched. Although, I tried cleaning it just in case. It was like this the first time I put it in the DVD. I was doing a marathon and finally watching all the episodes and those two episodes just wouldn't play right. I'm not sure, but it sounded like the opening theme was running a bit fast and it looks like it's showing different frames at the same time.

They're actually more likely to give you one than you might think... As long as you can provide proof of purchase (usually the bar code on the box set) then they should be willing to send you one.
