The Nova Extractor ...

Postby Derek16438 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 4:51 am

I couldn't find a section for application troubleshooting, so I will just post my issue here. Moderators feel free to relocate this post if necessary.

I have been using the nova extractor for some time now, but I no longer rip movies from games to use in my AMVs. I only use DVD footage now, so you see ... I no longer have a use for the Nova Extractor. However, the application does not come with an un-installation program, so I simply deleted everything from the program folder. There is a file that is being quite stubborn though, and does not want to be removed. The file that won't delete with normal effort is the ExtractorExt.dll. I cannot remove this file from my computer. Can anybody help me??

I am running Windows Vista Home Edition x32 OS.

Again, I apologize if this post is misplaced and poses as an inconvenience.

restart your computer and boot into safe mode, that should make it so that ExtractorExt.dll isn't loaded (chances are that you can't delete it because that dll is loaded into memory normally)

you'll want to check to make sure it isn't in the startup list as well, start->run and type in msconfig. Look at the startup tab, uncheck stuff related to Nova.
Also, if you look at the boot.ini tab there should be a /safeboot checkbox. check it and restart, then you'll boot into safe mode without needing to press f8 at the right moment...just be sure to turn off /safeboot when you're done.
