Problem with VirtualDub after installing Vegas 9.0 O_o

Postby samthegreek » Tue Sep 01, 2009 2:02 am

I haven't had any trouble with my VirtualDub mod until I installed Vegas 9.0
Now, any time I try to open a OGM file (or whatnot) I get this error:

*Couldn't locate decompressor for fromat 'DX50' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video.
DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this video.

Please not that I am a total idiot when it comes to this technical converting computer mumbo jumbo stuff.

So... I have absolutely no idea what this is even trying to say.
And even if I did, I would have no clue as how to remedy the situation.

Can any please help me?

"DX50" = DivX 5.0. It's saying you need to install a VFW codec that can handle DivX.

XviD is recommended for this purpose, as it's open-source, totally free, and considered around here to be superior to DivX (last I checked). If you already have XviD installed, open up its decoder options and check the DX50 box.

Err... Thanks! :)
