Question abotu zarx

Postby NS » Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:36 pm

Not so much how to use, because I remember that.

and Not even so much about values to put in, since it's coming back to me.

But when I press encode I get a little error. The "Has stopped working" error, but it's Microsoft Windows that has stopped working. Then I kinda get out of the error window and it then goes through the encode, but after it's done (and in the process line or whatever it says "muxing mp4...Done" there is no mp4 file where I set there to be one. Any ideas from you guys?

Get a newer version from here. The beta is much better than the stable, also.

One thing I gotta warn, though, is that you should disable the auto-vaq if you plan on using the Constant Quality. CRF encoding is better than 2pass, imho, but VAQ changes the way of how it works, so my personal feeling is that a crf with ag set to 0.6 is better than auto-vaq. In the case you wish to lower the vaq, well, then I suggest you to lower the crf value, since autovaq changed how crf works.

Nae still does it. I press encode and I get "microsft windows has stopped working" and I have the option to "close program". and then it encoded really quickly.. then Zarxgui stopped working.

I kinda hate this computer, simple shit doesn't work. I can't get Windows or MSN messenger to work either, but that's besides the point. I want zarx to work for now (running vista btw if that matters)

Mmmmmh... does the video you need to encode happen to be a quick beta? If the length is low, manually force the core number to 1 in the advanced tab.

Did that, still the same. With "zarx264gui has stopped working" showing up at the end

Mmmmh... go to the command line tab and click on Create .BAT. Save it somewhere, then right click it and choose modify. Write pause at its end and save it, then run it. See what error comes up, if any.

Might be an mp4box issue... try to remove the mp4box lines in the bat and mux the .264 and the .m4a files into an mkv...

Every once in a while it's saying its a problem with my audio. I'm using a .wav render of my timeline from vegas as the audio, is that right?

That shouldn't be causing issues, but where aac fails, vorbis still doesn't. I'd suggest you get oggenc2. Just place the oggenc2.exe in your system32 folder and call it in the .bat like
Code: Select all
oggenc2.exe -q X -o "your output.ogg" "your input.wav"

Instead of X, use 6 if your audio is from a CD/TV-raw or 8 if it's from a DVD/BRD.

well I got it to work, I just imported the uncompressed .avi with audio not disabled into zarxgui since I remembered reading you could do that now, and it worked fine. >_>
