Wierd results when encoding. (Using MpegStreamClip)

Postby exVanquish » Wed Jun 17, 2009 4:39 pm

Well I'm trying to encode Night Wizard and am getting a problem with quality. I'm encoding to Apple Animation as usual but this is the first time I'm getting this problem.

Here is a side by side comparison or the original file and the file encoded by me. (I'm using MpegStreamClip on my Mac Pro since my PC is having it's usual Windows spasms.)

Anyone got any solves/fixes for this?

Looks like Apple Animation is going above and beyond the normal pixelation difference for red. Why are you using this codec at all? You have ridiculous amounts of space. Why not use uncompressed, intermediate, or huffyuv?

Uhhh... I tried all those except huffy. They all give me the same results. I can't encode Huffy though as I told you over aim. I needed help with that since the AMVapp on my mac was all screwy but you never are on when I am. >.<

Hmmm.... So any ideas?

Uncompressed gives you that? Really? Huh. How odd. Is there anyway you can send me a short segment of what you're export is and I can try my hand at it?

Sure. I'll get that for you once I get back from my exam (LAST ONE! YESSSSS!).
I'll send you my result and the original file. I'm just wondering though. It is an anamorphic file. Could that have anything to do with it?

I'm having problems with the original file and it's too big to send over any normal means. And the only other way I can take out a piece of it would be with a movie clipping.

Wait, that gives me an idea. I'll try using Quicktime Pro, that might work. I only tried normal lossy with that.

Will post results after.
