encoding speed

Help please. I am a newbie. I made a movie. when I went to publish....it took 2 hours to encode. I know it should not take that long. I do know how to burn DVD's and they never take this long. Please tell me what I need to do to speed up the process. I was able to burn 9 copies in 9 hours. There is a problem somewhere. What do I need to do?

How long are these "movies" ?

I remember last year I was exporting a lossless video from Premiere that was 30 minute long. Took 2 hours just for the export.

Is two hours a normal time for a home video to encode to be burned?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I'm pretty sure burning took around an hour, and that was half as long as yours is.
