Help: Converting Files from Divx to Huffyuv

Postby n3ko-chan » Sun Sep 23, 2007 3:59 am

When I rip my DVDs to make my AMVs they are in .avi format and they are in Divx codec

However my computer doesn't take Divx codec in any of the programs.

So I've tried to convert it to Huffyuv codec through VirtualDub however whenever I do the file size becomes extremely large and whenever I try to upload it into my Video making software of choice [Ulead VideoStudio 10] It causes the program to completely freeze up and I can't do anything.

My question is, am I doing something or another wrong or is it supposed to be like this? If so how can I make my AMVs without it freezing up whenever the clips are imported?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

From what I see,you aren't using DVD Decrypter... It's free, and is included in AMVApp.

Anyway - if you're converting full EPs/Movies don't do so. Instead, you could use AviSynth,or VDubMod to create clips. They're much easier to handle to any editing program, since their size may vary from 50 frames,up to 200,etc. And,that way you'll save your time, and will be able to prepare only the footage you need, and that would save your HDD space.

Yeah ^^; I'm not using DVD Decrypter, I ripped the majority of these DVDs back years ago before I knew about the program.

I've tried cutting out the clips I need into 5 minute clips or so as well, however they still made my computer freeze up and the software to exit.

Then try out converting to Lagarith instead of Huffyuv. Maybe it's your system is just a bit slow, and can't handle Huffyuv size and bitrate.
