this site doesnt advocate using downloaded footage, what you should do is buy the DVDs then rip them yourself instead of relying on someone else's "rip" to do it for you cause then you will have more control over your footage and how its presented...

not to mention theres probably plenty of threads out there to help you if you need to convert one format to another, search function is your friend

Have you ever heard the term RTFM? The guide they linked you to is pretty self explanatory and easy to follow. It really can't get any simpler than that. There is no point in asking the same question over and over unless you deliberately try to get warned or something. I was a total noob once but got hold of a bunch of guides, read forum posts and eventually managed to do it, as the rest of these guys...

Another reason why you should not use downloaded material is that it is considered (well in most cases at least) theft. Technicaly the production of an AMV is illegal (according to my country's law that is, but I think the same applies in the US too). You take someone else's work (both the anime studio and the music artist) and change it to something else, something that has little or no connection with the original product, without their permission. When you have bought the DVDs and CDs you don't make it legal, but you soften it a bit. At least you paid the creators for using their material.

fixed.

Theft invoves depriving someone of something. As in, I take your candy bar - that is theft, you don't have a candy bar now, and I do. Piracy does not involve deprivation of stuff. I burn a copy of your CD. Now I have a copy, but you do as well. You have not been deprived of anything.

I get this image of Jack Sparrow not looting or plundering a passing merchie but instead asking to copy that booty in semaphore.

Well yes, but don't I deprive you of the money you would have earned if I had bought your CD instead of copying it? Anyway, the word I used was indeed a bit harsh but well you get the meaning. It really depends on how you look at it I think and it's a huge topic, not suitable for this thread

The asssumption one would have bought the product given different circumstances is the kind of dubious bookkeeping practices that got Enron in trouble.

Can't dissagree with that now, can I? Especially after having seen what those guys did. Bottom line is in any case: Don't use downloaded material, right?

PS: I used the word "theft" only because it is used by our legislation. According to owr law piracy = theft. Can't say I am familiar with the legal terms in US, sorry
