Not a help topic for once. #1 DVD Ripper

Is anyone here familiar with this program.
http://www.dvdtox.com/

I've used it for months and hasn't let me down. Not to mention that it lets you rip by scene.

I'm just recommending a program and seeing if anyone uses it.

lets you rip by scenes eh? Sounds handy.
does it scan the video to find the sections you want fast enough is the question.
I've come across some rippers that do this but usually find it easier to rip the entire disk, then enjoy the ease of instantly seeking the footage, and copying what I want, then deleting the original. Of course if you know exactly what parts you need, it doesn't matter. :)

As soon as you select the DVD, it opens up. For example, an Azumanga DVD's interface will be set up like this:

Title 01 (Previews, Disclaimers, and DVD Menu)
Title 02
Title 03
Title 04
Title 05

When you click the button, on the left, it breaks up into the scenes that the DVD originally sets up. In this case, it's 8 scenes that are rippable.

Give it a try if you want. The free trail lets you rip half of your selected content.

a similar thing can be achieved by using file mode in dvd decrypter.
it doesn't break episodes down to all 4 chapters (intro, partA and eyecatch, PartB and outro,) but you usually don't need to break it down that far.

I'm curious as to if that program you linked to can handle the multiple angle problem that occurs with some dvds (if you rip a multi-angle dvd with fie mode in dvdecrypter it will look like the animation goes for a few frames, and then repeats what it just played)
I can't name any multiple angle dvds off the top of my head though

It says angle by the start button so I guess.

What are angle DVDs?

by that I meant dvds that have multiple video angles, about the best example I can think of is in one angle you have the normal animation, another angle has the animatics (a rough storyboard of the episode)

another (probably more common in anime dvds) exapmle is 2 angles of the same intro, one with hardsubs and a "clean" version

...it's a trial eh?

I take it you're new here... so... if nobody has pointed you in the right direction yet... let's see...
um, do you have the AMVapp? it is usually all you'll ever need and comes with DVDdecrypter... (it does the whole thing for free) :D

also, make sure to check out the guides page. specifically This one. It's A LOT, so take your time, and feel free to ask questions.

and if you haven't already found the 10% videos page... check it out... some AMVs are pretty impressive

if you already found this stuff, just ignore me

Well, I'm new HERE but I decided to not use Decrypter since they got shut down for legal issues. As for AMVapp, it's installed. Also, if it's okay, can I PM if I don't understand something or have troubleshooting?

I don't think you should not use DVDdecrypter for the legal issues... I mean really its the same thing as using any other program... but we all have our own ways.

it's not so much that they were doing anything more "illegal" than any other "dvd backup application", it's just that they attracted so much attention that they were bought out by a larger company and forced to discontinue distribution

It said that free distribution needs to stop. I guess AMVapp needs to be shut down then.

sorry... I was blind to the edit ... but still... it would be a bit of hassle to take decrypter out just so we could replace with another ripper that does the exact same thing
