I would also like to take the time to remind those who -rather than give useful advice- would rather poke fun at new people that you guys were new and didn't know jack about 'aspect ratios' and 'telecline' and all that junk either.
rockleefan, the best way to start is just learn how to rip DVD's and turn them into files that you can play with...don't worry about jackin around with the techie script-stuff until you think your a bit more advanced to take on that sort of stuff...breaking it down and trying one thing at a time is a good way of figuring it all out.

Nuke 'em all and Shoot 'em in the dark.

Dax is right, she showed him the guides and he didn't bother to read them (I even read them and I'm on a Mac). Pure and simple, God only helps those who help themselves .... it's not like asking how to get the best mp4 encode .... or begging Vicbond to give up his mpeg1 encoding secrets ....

Vicbond ... give them up! :P

I was there, once. I read the guides, talked to people, and asked intelligible questions. Oh, and lurked in the technical fora a lot. That helps.

I'm going to go out on a limb and postulate that rockleefan has no DVDs and no editing software (perhaps not even knowing about WMM). The tone I got from his message is that he has no patience and expects everything to be handed to him on a silver platter. I have no problem at all with helping people who show a desire to learn, but rockleefan has yet to show anything approximating that--the utter rejection of any guide is a woeful sign of that.

It just happens to be the very first thread on the General AMV page.

proud of that huh?...

I think this guy just wants a guide that doesn't tell him anything except 'point-click here... point-click here...' --->which in all honesty... we've all wished for that at one point or another :\ but I tell ya's, it's much better to actually try reading the guides

on a side note: did the amv wiki die or something, cause that would have been helpful as a reference for definitions...

Yeah, actually, I am.

Why shouldn't I be proud of one of my accomplishments? I'm not brandying about the link in order to draw attention to myself, but rather to, as I said, remind people that these questions have been answered in a readily accessible location. If you're suggesting that I shouldn't be proud of something I've written, then you de facto suggest that I shouldn't be proud of what I create, and then I ask why you're on a fundamentally artistic site.

Of course, if you were merely poking fun goodnaturedly, disregard my comments. 8-)

I'll have to remember that for in case anyone ever tells me something similar for always posting the flashing banners. :D

how to guides

forum

the forum is used for many things, including trouble shooting, but the guides are a layout of how most people make videos around here (amongst other things.... including theory guides and how to use the site)

yes there is a difference in the two here
