VOB is not a supported file type? please help me

Postby MunkyMilker » Thu Mar 22, 2007 4:14 am

Hello
i really want to start mking my AMV :cry:
This may seem pretty noobish and easily solved, but before telling me to go find some older threads i need some help.
i already have
* AMVapp
*Windows media player
*DvD Dycryptor

and a few other bits of software. i have tried to follow the guid Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides < or however you spell it. but im a bit stuck.

I have ripped episodes of an anime off my DVD. But when i try to import the ripped material into any program an error comes up saying...

" Urecongized Exception" in VirtualDubod and
"VOB is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker."

how can i make it so these(or any) program will accept the files?
THANKYOU IN ADVANCE

VirtualDubMod really should be able to open .VOB files. Sure you're not using plain old VirtualDub instead?

And there's more to the process after ripping the VOBs; continue reading <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/videogetb1.html">here</a>.

I wrote:Get the latest build AMVApp. This will contain most, if not all, programs you will need for making your DVD source usable. I edit with AVS files, because I'm crazy like that, but a good method to follow is 1) rip VOBs to hard drive 2) index them using DGIndex 3) take the subsequent AVS file and add filters to get rid of interlacing and temporally smooth the source, and all sorts of other fun stuff. We can help you with what commands you will need. 4) drop the avs file into VirtualDubMod and spit out lossless files. I suggest Lagarith as your lossless codec, but some people like HuffYUV. I have used both. 5) Place in your editor and start cutting!

Virtualdubmod will handle VOBs, but it's less efficient than using AviSynth.
