DivX material isn´t so good at all. There are wrong colour spaces and more. The best you can do is to make an avs-script (look into the guides) and load the file with:
DirectShowSource("C:\path of file\file.avi")

So now you have the possibility to clean your footage up with avs:

mark the scences you want with the arrows and put out files in a looseless codec. Like Lagarith (recommended) or HuffYUV (for slower systems).
Work with those clips in Vegas and final render them again into a looseless codec (wich you finaly compress afterwards).

But after all: Don´t use fansubbed material or compressed one like in ogg. There are really good reasons to buy the DVDs:

It simply said sucks.
