Converting Unencrypted VOB to MOV (Intel Mac)

Postby thorian » Sat Feb 24, 2007 4:47 pm

Hello yall

I am a recent convert to the temple of Mac so im not too sure what software is out there. When following the mac ripping how to guide they recommend a piece of software called DiVA to encode the VOB files so that I they can be chopped up by clip creator for iMovie and final cut express. There is only one problem DiVA will not run on my Mac. I think it may be due to the Rosetta conversion for G series SW on the Intel Mac's.

So if anyone can direct me to a good freeware for that conversion step it would be appreciated.

My Mac is a new 17" 2.0Ghz Core Duo iMac with 2gb of ram and the ati x1600 video card. I have the latest updates to OS X also (part of the reason i am looking for freeware as I sunk all my money in the Mac and final cut express.)

Thanks in advance.

(p.s) I tried to search for an answer first but I may have over looked something

The new mac ripping guides do not recommend DiVA. Go here.

For that to work will I have to buy Quicktime Pro?

Please Pardon my ignorance as I have only run this Mac for 2 days now?

And it's really a great idea to get QT Pro. Best $30 you'll spend as far as moviemaking on a Mac goes..especially if you're using Final Cut.

I say use Cyberduck, instead it's better than Fetch. And open-source

I used Cyberduck until it had issues with one server's SSH key. Great program, though.
