I want to record something from my screen, but it's getting really complicated. 'Tis a game for Windows.
I downloaded the ZDsoft Screen Recorder and ran the game - got only blackness with audio. So I disabled the Hardware Acceleration for my video board and the game won't open. Instead, it displays an error message related to "openGL". I scavenged around the game directory and found some .DAT files, but I have no clue about how to convert them. All my attempts using AviSynth and VDM so far have failed.
I've heard of openGL before but I had no idea what it actually does. Based on what I found on the Wikipedia, I'm not sure if I should install it since I already have DirectX 9. In other words, I'm an idiot.
The ideal solution in my case would be capturing from the screen (either being able to run the game w/o hardware accel or finding a way to capture the hardware overlay video) but if that's impossible, I'll be perfectly happy with reading the DAT files.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
