Ripping God of War Footage

Postby PsychoSavvy » Wed Jan 24, 2007 8:11 pm

Okay, I'm sorry if this question has been answered, but I'm new to the site and I've scoured the site and haven't found the thread for this question if it exists.

How in the world do I rip God of War cutscenes? I've tried CastorTroy's method, and Nova Extractor freezes for no reason. So, I tried DemonSpawn's method of manually extracting the .pss files, but I can't find a version of WinHex that lets me save the files!! I have all of the offsets, but I can't save them!!!!!!!!!!

I really want to make a God of War AMV, but I can't find a way to get the footage, so I'd HIGHLY appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks.

for the cutscenes/cinematics I think you need to capture that manually (using a capture card &/or fraps)

and for reference, God of War is not considered anime, so you'd need the majority of the video to be something else

Try FMVTool

Try FMV Tool. It worked for me. You just have to download it and a dvd plugin to get it working.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't anime, but I don't particularly like calling it a "music video" either, so I picked the lesser of two evils, somewhat :P

Um, okay, I'm sure I can find FMV Tool, but a DVD plugin? Where could I find one?

Again, thanks for the help :-D Much appreciated.

Okay, so sorry for the double post.

Apparently, finding FMV Tool is harder to find than I thought :-[, so um, if possible could you provide me with a link to a download site or something?

I haven't tried this myself yet on GoW, but here;

http://nickle.shimbe.net/Archives/psscut010.lzh

download this .exe file, create an iso (image file) of GoW, and then simply drag the iso into this application. You should see a DOS window appear and the program should begin scanning through the iso automatically extracting the .pss files for you into the same directory as the program. Since GoW's movie files seem to have obvious headers, *hopefully* this program should do the trick.

First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH for that download, it at least moved me a step forward!

Here's the problem, though: the executable file you gave me is only able to find the first 61 .pss files, a lot of which are repeats of each other; after 61, it begins saying "Unrecognized MPEG Header" or something to that degree.

I have FMV Tools, where can I find a plugin, and how would I use it to extract the rest of the .pss files?

and for the record, I can't stand FMV tool. (providing were're talking about GiGaHeRz's FMV Search & Extract Tool). It hasn't found anything for me that either pss cutter or nova extractor could'nt find as well. About the only thing it excels at is extracting obvious mpeg2 streams with obvious headers. I hope the author of that program continues to make more and more better versions of it because as of now, I don't see the point in using it.

OK I don't know if anybody of you don't know about Cube Media Player but it is THE best ps2 media tool out there.

So just go to www.cubemediaplayer.com and knock yourself out. :).
