Problem with encoding...

Postby Seithex » Thu Jan 11, 2007 10:43 pm

Okay, so I am new to AMV making and just finished my first AMV, but when I try to export it to AVI the file is huge, it can't finish because I run out of space, like 40 seconds is 4 gigs. Is there a way to fix this and make it smaller like other AMVs or do I have to buy a exterenal hard drive just to encode AMVs? I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 if it helps.

If you don't export uncompressed from premiere you run the risk of things screwing up. That said, expect your export to be around 5GB or more. HDDs are getting cheep. Newegg was selling 250GB ones for around $60 last I checked.

Use a lossless codec such as HuffYUV or Lagarith; that way you undergo no loss in visual quality, but your file won't be as big as uncompressed. It'll still be big though; my HuffYUV encodes routinely run about 300 MB per minute.

Then compress THAT file to something smaller later.
(Guide to process starts here, or if you just want to skip to the actual encoding, go here. And don't forget to compress your audio.)
