Jumpy video? =/

Gah, I'm a newb here so apologies if it's the wrong forum, I tried my best!

Right, I followed this guide - http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/dvdinwmm2/ - as accurately as I could for someone whose never ripped video from DVD before. I got right to the end and chose to make a fake AVI with makeAVIS.

However, when I viewed the video and imported it into my editing program it appears really...jumpy. Not smooth like the actual anime is. There's also a rather strange blurring/blending(?) going on although I managed to get rid of most of the horizontal lines [interlacing?].

I don't understand why this happens, as when I played the file in VirtualDubMod the quality seemed fine. Could anyone perhaps explain why this has happened, if I made a mistake, and how I can try to correct it?

[I apologise again if this is slightly vague and lacks terminology, I'm new to this game you see.] :x
