what is a simple way to grab high quality images from video not using windows movie maker?

virtualdub can export frames or copy them to your clipboard

It's in the video options. The program is found in the amvapp accompanying how-to guide to all things technical. If you've never read it, I suggest doing so now.

scrub to the frame you want, then the option is under Video
