vob splitting

Postby Minion » Thu Dec 14, 2006 9:39 am

is there any way to split a vob into 2?

i've been backing up some dvds on an external hd, and i'm catagorizing them by serries.
i have a demo dvd that has kiddy grade, samurai 7, and burst angel.

the second part of samurai 7 and the first part of burst angel share a vob file. so i need to seperate those for storage.

If you'd like to keep them as 'DVDs', then, not really, no.

But you can mux and cut the vobs up into standard mpegs.

Of course you'll also lose the ability to access the subtitles unless you rip and proces them into something else like an idx/sub set.

They may share the same .vob, but I'm sure they are different chapters. Smartripper lets you select the chapters during ripping so that you can seperate them but keep them as vob's if that matters.

DVD Decrypter also does it in IFO mode. You can set it to split by a list of preset file sizes, by layer, by chapter, by Vob ID, or by Cell ID.

I'm not sure what Cell ID is for, but I think the different .VOBs are per-title, so Vob ID might be what you wanna go with. And it's included in the AMVApp, so no extra programs to d/l - assuming you already d/l'ed AMVApp to begin with.
