Post by icesta1 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 10:04 pm

Well after working with AMVs for around 2-3 months ive made lots of Amvs, But the problem is whenever i make .avi files with xvid codec i noticed my video quality looked likes it made out of lines.. its as if the whole video was made out of lines.

If people know what im talking about please reply and help me out!!

you probably didn't de-interlace (and xvid is not an editing codec...which also contributes to your poor video quality problem)
Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides is your friend, it has all the tools (and tells you how to use them) to make your video quality better.

unfortunately this is meant to be done before you start editing.
It's a bit of a read, but try to read it all. If you don't understand a section, look at the glossary of terms which you can get to through the index/main page and then try again

I also want to mention that if your editor has the option, make sure to export in progressive (or non-interlaced), especially if you edited as such. Some formats, like DV-AVI are typically encoded as interlaced (as output with the Microsoft DV codec from WMM, or at least when I output DV AVI from WMM).

It's highly recommended to de-interlace footage before editing, especially if you are going to adjust the speed of the clips.

If you already did this (or are using already progressive footage) and your exports are interlaced (such as my DV-AVI example), then you should de-interlace the video before encoding with XviD.
