cant get to work

K so i was going to make a vid in vegas but it wont read the movie its an avi file how could i get this to work?ty

Make sure your video isn't encoded in divx or xvid format.
Those don't work well in most editing programs.

You need to re-encode your clips in virtualdub and use a coded like Huffyuv or Lagarith

Since they can create HUGE files its best to encode only the clips you need from the movie.

well i dont know what clips i need right now i was just going to use wmm but it wont stop freezing

You can search through the movie in virtualdub and see what clips you want.
If you don't have that program you can get it here

a lil virtualdub error pops up says some thing bout cant use same file as a windows media player

couldnt locate decompressor for format dx50(unknown)

virtualdub requires a video for windows(vfw)comparible codec to decompress video. directshow codecs such as those used by windows media player are not suitable

That means you don't have divx installed. You need to install it to be able to open the video

I don't know.It might be a different codec the video player is using to render it.

You should try installing ffdshow video decoder
That supports multiple codecs like divx, xvid, mpeg1 ect
